Samsung announces Ice Cream Sandwich powered Galaxy Tab 2 in a 10.1 version
Gearing up for Mobile World Congress, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) this evening, to go along with it's 7-inch sibling. The Tab 2 (10.1) has a 1280x800 display, a dual-core 1GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and runs Ice Cream Sandwich. Unlike it's predecessor, it also comes with a slot for an external SDcard. Coming in both 16GB and 32GB versions, in both a wifi and HSPA+ 21 configuration. TouchWiz is also on board, as is a healthy 7,000mAh battery. No word on pricing, but Samsung says this one will go on sale this March in the UK. We'll find out any further details direct from Samsung when we meet with them this week. UFC 144 comeback: Boetsch pulls off miracle against Okami; Shields gets by ?Sexyama?
With some guts, power and toughness, Tim Boetsch turned a trip back down the middleweight ladder into an opportunity to legitimately call out top-five fighters at 185 pounds.

Okami went down in a heap after the third and referee Leon Roberts had to jump in to save him.
"It still hasn't settled in yet. The first two rounds weren't good, but I won the third round and that's what counts. Yushin hit me harder than I expected, but I was standing at the end of his range so it was kind of my fault. I knew I had to move forward, but the upper cuts were a spur of the moment thing. Awesome night overall," said Boetsch.
After racing out to a 10-2 start with the UFC, Okami has now dropped two straight. Boetsch (15-4, 4-1 UFC) is a perfect 3-0 at middleweight.
Shields wins favor with the judges
There's no mistaking what Jake Shields wants to do. A jiu-jitsu ace, he efforts to get his opponent to the ground. He couldn't accomplish that against Yoshihiro Akiyama, so turned to Plan B and got the victory.
Shields (27-6-1, 2-2 UFC) landed lots of short strikes and many leg kicks to earn the nod from the judges, 30-27 on all three cards. He sealed the fight down the stretch by scoring three takedowns late. He also got Sexyama's back and threatened with a choke in the final 30 seconds.

This was Akiyama's debut at 170 pounds. The move paid off. He was certainly competitive with one of the top welterweights in the worlds. He looked strong at the weight and unlike his previous fights at middleweight, his energy remained pretty constant into the late stages of the fight.

It took Glenwood Pixie 29.11 seconds to race through the track distance.
The two-year-old got back to business on 9th February at Shelbourne Park as she won the Grade A3 The Fundraising Night A3 525 Final. Glenwood Pixie was on the other side of the wire in 28.93 seconds while the other 2/1 joint favourite, Walkabout Gary, finished third.
Noirs Magician was the runner up of the race.
Glenwood Pixie has not gone down the second position ever since she cracked into the 2012 season thus her winning probabilities are the highest.
Murdaniel Tune, Droopys Scolari?s three-year-old black daughter out of Express Tune, is also the one who has recently added a victory on her record.
The three times that Murdaniel Tune has raced in 2012, she has struck a victory, came second and fourth once.

While the pilots are handling the charter jet, the passengers may read, visit, eat or any number of things at will. The only exception is during take-offs, landing or in a storm. There are so many lesser restrictions on a charter jet than on the large commercial airlines. You can even have your pet on board if you wish. For that reason alone might be enough to use a charter jet over a commercial airline. Simply meaning many people sees their pet as another member of the family! Thank goodness for charter jets.

The price tag so far is nearly $2.7 million, according to multiple sources monitoring the paid-media campaign. That number is sure to rise dramatically as the Arizona and Michigan primaries approach on Feb. 28, with Super Tuesday following a week later.
Santorum is now scrambling to catch up with the rapid deployment of Romney?s resources: his chief strategist, John Brabender, confirmed to POLITICO that the campaign plans to go on the air within the next few days in Arizona, Georgia, Ohio, Oklahoma and Tennessee. The Santorum campaign?s first new ads could start in Ohio as early as Thursday.
But as of Tuesday night, Santorum had just $42,000 in Fox News ad time reserved, solely in Michigan.
Recent polls show a competitive race in Michigan, Romney?s home state where his father was governor. But the blizzard of TV ads, some of which are aggressively attacking Santorum, could obliterate any advantage by the ex-Pennsylvania senator. Romney?s negative air assault did much the same thing to Newt Gingrich?s lead before the Iowa caucuses and the Florida primary. Romney will be in Michigan today and tomorrow, while Santorum will arrive Thursday.
Both Santorum and the super PAC supporting him have indicated they hope to ramp up their air presence quickly, though both are believed to be at a financial disadvantage to Romney?s operation.
?We will significantly increase our buys soon,? Santorum campaign spokesman Hogan Gidley said in an email.
The skies have darkened fastest over Michigan, where Romney?s campaign booked over $1.2 million in airtime Tuesday and began running a commercial showing the candidate describing his upbringing in the Wolverine State.
The pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future also began airing anti-Santorum ads in Arizona and Ohio Wednesday, in addition to Michigan. Since the beginning of the week, ROF has purchased airtime targeting a total of eight upcoming primary contests.
The ROF ads going after Santorum highlight his record on earmarks while a senator, branding him a ?big spender? and ?Washington insider? ? and amplifying the attack lines Romney and his surrogates have used on the campaign trail.
?How did Rick Santorum actually vote? Santorum voted to raise the debt limit five times and for billions in wasteful projects, including the ?Bridge to Nowhere,?? the super PAC ad says.
ROF has reserved nearly $600,000 in ad time on Michigan television over the next week, as well as $99,000 in radio ads there. A majority of the spending is in the Detroit and Grand Rapids media markets.
The super PAC has also laid the groundwork for a larger, national-scale television campaign with reservations across the March 6 Super Tuesday landscape and beyond. The pro-Romney group is on the air in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee, on top of the three states where it is running ads against Santorum. It will also have a presence on national talk radio.

China CIC says wary of European govt bond investments (Reuters)
BEIJING (Reuters) ? China Investment Corp (CIC) remains wary about investing in European government bonds despite a plea from Germany's chancellor, but will look for opportunities in infrastructure and real industrial projects, the head of the country's $410 billion sovereign wealth fund said on Monday.
European government bonds are not ideal for long-term investors like CIC, said Lou Jiwei, chairman of the fund.
"For European bonds like the government bonds of Italy and Spain, only central banks with certain responsibilities can invest. But it's more difficult for long-term investors like us to make (such) investments," Lou told the annual meeting of China Economists 50 Forum, a club of government officials and economists.
"Investment opportunities may lie in areas like infrastructure and industrial projects, and these projects can help economic recovery," he added.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel had asked CIC and other "long-term investors" to buy European government debt, including that of France and Germany, when she visited Beijing earlier this month, Lou said without elaborating.
CIC recently bought a minority stake in London water supplier Thames Water in an early sign that concerted efforts to drum up foreign investment in Britain's ailing economy may be paying dividends.
Europe will "inevitably fall into recession," Lou said, adding that the global economic recovery, including that of the United States, will be very slow process.
"In short, the global financial markets are highly uncertain with big downward risks, but there are still opportunities, and the world is in need of investments -- protectionism in international investment is declining," Lou said.

Pa. judge to consider Sandusky jury, bail issues (AP)
BELLEFONTE, Pa. ? State prosecutors don't want the people who live near former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky in central Pennsylvania to sit as jurors in his pending child sex-abuse trial. On Friday, they will try to persuade a judge to fill the jury box with people from outside the State College area instead.
The proceeding before Judge John M. Cleland is also expected to address Sandusky's request to have his house-arrest bail conditions modified so that he can have contact with his grandchildren and others.
The state attorney general's office has asked for tougher bail rules, arguing that safety concerns among Sandusky's neighbors warrant restricting him indoors.
Cleland has asked defense and prosecution lawyers to narrow the disputes on which he will have to rule, a list that includes whether Sandusky should be given transcripts of secret grand jury testimony before trial, and which other records prosecutors must turn over.
Sandusky faces 52 criminal counts for alleged sexual misconduct involving boys over 15 years, actions that police and prosecutors say have included violent sexual assault inside the Penn State football team facilities. He has denied the allegations.
Prosecutors have said the special position Penn State holds for people in Centre County would make it a challenge for jurors there to render a fair verdict, but Harrisburg attorney Barb Zemlock, president of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, said the same issue would apply throughout the state.
"The commonwealth of Pennsylvania is replete with individuals who have graduated from Penn State," Zemlock said. "And if you are going to say nobody who graduated from Penn State can be fair and impartial, then you are really going to slice your jury pool considerably."
Sandusky, 68, wants a Centre County jury, and neither the defense nor prosecutors have sought to move the proceedings to another county.
Both sides want to change the rules of Sandusky's house arrest. He is seeking permission to allow his 11 grandchildren to visit his home, accompanied by a parent, as well as to be allowed to communicate with them by phone or computer.
The attorney general's office, on the other hand, has asked Cleland to restrict Sandusky indoors. In a court filing on Tuesday, prosecutors said Sandusky had been seen on his back porch watching children play in an adjacent schoolyard, and concerns have been raised for the children's safety.
"Such concerns will only mushroom if defendant is permitted to roam at will outside his house," they said.
In response, Sandusky attorney Joe Amendola said safety concerns were unfounded, and that Sandusky has complied with bail rules in the months since his arrest.
Given Sandusky's age and the nature and number of charges against him, a conviction could be tantamount to a life sentence, so it is possible the time he is spending on house arrest may be his last months as a free man.
Sandusky is requesting pretrial release of grand jury transcripts, something Zemlock said courts have been known to grant, but she said it would be unusual for the defense to obtain them months before trial. No trial date has been set.
"The last thing the court needs to do is build an appellate issue, and if I don't have time to properly prepare for my cross-examination, my client is being denied the effective representation of counsel," Zemlock said.
Amendola said this week that he wasn't sure if Cleland or the jurist who supervised the investigative grand jury, Judge Barry Feudale, would decide whether to release the transcripts.
"A determination of the motion for the production of copies of transcripts of testimony of individuals who appeared before the grand jury may be delayed, depending upon whether Judge Cleland or Judge Feudale decides that issue," Amendola said.
Cleland said prosecutors did not have to file a written answer to Amendola's detailed motion seeking other records. The judge's order scheduled the motion for "argument and/or hearing" on Friday but asked the sides to "narrow the issues in dispute and reach agreement, if possible."
Zemlock said additional pretrial motions might still be filed on a range of possible topics, including any alibi defense, a claim that so much time has passed that the statute of limitations requires dismissal, or efforts to prevent one side or the other from presenting certain evidence.
Judges have leeway when it comes to setting a timeline for those types of motions, Zemlock said.
Pennsylvania's speedy trial rules give the state a year from the filing of the complaint to bring a defendant to trial, unless he or she is in jail, then the limit is six months.
Sandusky was arrested on two sets of charges, filed against him in November and December. Zemlock said trial in late summer or early fall would be a good guess, but that may depend on Centre County's court timetable and Cleland's schedule.
The scandal led the Penn State trustees to push out university president Graham Spanier and football coach Joe Paterno, who died last month.
Two Penn State administrators are awaiting trial on charges they lied to a grand jury investigating Sandusky and failed to properly report suspected child abuse. Gary Schultz, a former vice president, and Tim Curley, the athletic director, have both denied the allegations.

Shaken by a string of failures, Romney is hoping to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat Saturday on the path to his party's nomination.
The former Massachusetts governor has stepped up efforts to court local Republicans in recent days, reflecting growing concern over feisty GOP rival Ron Paul in what has essentially become a two-man race here. Neither Newt Gingrich nor Rick Santorum, who defeated Romney in contests in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado on Tuesday, are actively competing in Maine.
Romney wants Maine to help assuage heightened scrutiny over his on-going struggle to win his party's skeptical conservative wing. State officials will announce a winner Saturday evening, a day after Romney delivered a high-profile Washington address in which he described himself as "a severely conservative Republican governor."
Paul, a libertarian-minded Texan, is fighting to prove he's capable of winning at all, particularly in a state where his campaign has focused considerable attention. He has scored a handful of top three finishes in other early voting states, but his strategy is based on winning some of the smaller caucus contests where his passionate base of support can have an oversized impact.
There is no reliable polling to gauge the state of the Maine election, which drew fewer than 5,500 voters from across the state four years ago. But Romney's recent activities suggest a win is by no means assured, despite the natural advantages of being a former New England governor competing in a state he won with more than 50 percent of the vote four years ago.
He unexpectedly changed his schedule Friday night to add personal appearances at two caucuses Saturday ? a day he had planned to take off, despite being the last big day of voting in a state where the caucuses span one week. Romney faced a rowdy crowd at a town hall-style meeting in Portland Friday night, where one heckler was removed by police. Others asked pointed questions about his off-shore bank accounts, feelings about the nation's poor, and his continued support for the natural gas extraction process known as fracking.
"That's a good question. I gotta take some shots now and then or it wouldn't be interesting," Romney said when asked about investments in the Cayman Islands. "I pay all the taxes I'm required to pay under the law ? by the way, not a dollar more."
This Maine caucuses began Feb. 4 and will largely conclude Saturday, when the state GOP will announce the results of the nonbinding presidential straw poll. The contest has drawn virtually none of the hype surrounding recent elections in places like Florida and Nevada, where candidates poured millions of dollars into television and radio advertising.
After he and his allies spent a combined $15.9 million in Florida alone, Romney had placed only a small cable television ad buy to air Friday and Saturday totaling several thousand dollars. But he dispatched surrogates to the state in recent days ? including his eldest son, Tagg ? and hosted a telephone town hall to supplement Friday's campaign stop.
Paul has been more active, supplementing an aggressive ground operation with visits to shore up support. He has three more public appearances scheduled Saturday. There is reason to believe he won't make things easy for Romney.
Paul did reasonably well here four years ago, earning more than 18 percent of the vote, and his support has grown since then in a state whose electorate isn't afraid to support candidates outside the mainstream. The tea party ? hardly a Romney ally ? has also exerted significant influence in the Pine Tree State, taking over the GOP platform and helping to elect Gov. Paul LePage.
"Paul needs to show he can win somewhere," GOP strategist Phil Musser said. "My sense is a win in Maine for Romney would be nice. But to be honest, Ron Paul is camped out up there and he needs to win one."
The timing of the contest also raises the stakes.
The narrative coming out of Maine will likely reverberate in the political echo chamber for weeks, given there isn't another election until Arizona and Michigan host their contests Feb. 28. Romney hopes that narrative will be more positive than it has been over the last week, arguably his worst of the year.

Paul McCartney's ex-wife said Thursday a voicemail that CNN talk-show host Piers Morgan boasted of hearing had been illegally hacked.
Morgan has consistently denied he authorized the use of phone-hacking in his days as a tabloid newspaper editor in Britain. He has not offered an explanation for how he came to hear the message left on Heather Mills' mobile phone.
The accusation has dragged Morgan into a phone-hacking scandal which has damaged Rupert Murdoch's media empire and has had wide ramifications for the entire British press.
Giving evidence to an inquiry into British media ethics, Mills said she had left a house she shared with McCartney in early 2001 after they had had a row and turned her phone off.
The next morning she said she had received about 25 messages on her phone, all of which appeared to have been listened to, including one in which McCartney "sang a little ditty of one of his songs." She said she deleted the messages.
Later that day, a reporter called her to say he had heard the couple had argued and that McCartney had left a message in which he sang to her. This, she told the inquiry, could only have come from her phone being hacked.
The inquiry was told the unnamed reporter was a former employee from the Trinity Mirror Group though not from the Daily Mirror, one of the group's papers, which Morgan edited from 1995 to 2004.
Asked if she had ever made a recording of McCartney's call or had played it to Morgan herself, Mills said: "Never."
Mills, a former model who married McCartney in 2002 and divorced six years later, said Morgan, "a man that has written nothing but awful things about me for years," would have relished telling the inquiry if she had played a personal voicemail message to him.
Giving evidence in December, Morgan, who bragged about hearing the message in a newspaper column in 2006, refused to say who had played him the recorded message of the call, saying he was protecting a source.
Morgan left open the possibility that the voicemail had been played to him with Mills' approval, but Mills said Thursday that was impossible. "Never," she said. "Never ever."
Morgan also edited the now defunct News of the World tabloid at the center of the hacking scandal from 1994 to 1995, though his tenure was before the practice became rife. He has boasted that he knew about phone-hacking well before the scandal broke, but subsequently said he was referring to rumors.
Morgan has written in his diaries about a "little trick" for eavesdropping on voicemails that he heard of as early as 2001.
One former Mirror employer has told the inquiry hacking was widespread on the paper when Morgan was editor, and Trinity's chief executive has said some reporters might have secretly engaged in the practice.
The phone hacking scandal shook Britain's police, who were accused of failing to investigate allegations that Murdoch's News of the World tabloid had hacked into the phones of thousands of people, including celebrities and murder victims to get stories.
It was also an embarrassment for British Prime Minister David Cameron, who had hired a former News of the World editor as his spokesman.
